What is a Servathon?

A Servathon is similar to a walk-a-thon except with an important difference. At a Servathon, everyone wins!

The Hands On Manila Servathon is a way of celebrating a full-day of service with hundreds of volunteers who have contributed to the development of the community and provided assistance to marginalized sectors in Metro Manila.

The Hands On Manila Servathon is a day that combines service, and relevant activities that are fun. It is also a fund raising event which substantially helps contribute to the running of its year-round programs.

How does it work?

Hands On Manila draws in the business sector and non-profit organizations on a day of service, through a three-way partnership:

  1. Hands On Manila will: a) coordinate the signing up of corporations and their employee volunteers and links them with service/volunteer projects for the day b) prepares/designs service projects with partner agencies c) promotes the activity with other partners such as media advocacy groups.
  2. Corporate Partners will be able to: a) support corporate volunteerism by providing resources for their corporate employee volunteers b) provide funding support for Hands On Manila as part of the fund raising component of Servathon and c) promote volunteerism as part of their corporate social responsibility
  3. Non-profit Organizations will: a) coordinate and prepare service projects with HOM b) provide support by giving project counterparts for the activity c) promote volunteerism as a tool to achieve their organizational missions and goals.

By participating in this three-way partnership, one corporation will be given a service project that can take up to 30 of its corporate volunteers.

In order to facilitate more effective teamwork the participating corporation will identify a team leader from their group who will coordinate with Hands On Manila for service project preparations.

Hands On Manila, for its part, together with its partner non-profit organizations, will prepare a list of service project profiles. Hands On Manila will also provide additional volunteers for the other logistical needs of the projects.
